N&C Phlexicare in partnership with Disability Rights UK (formerly R.A.D.A.R) promote a U.K National Key Scheme, whereby public toilets and changing places are fitted with a specially manufactured lock and accessible by the using an N&C Phlexicare RADAR key. The National Key Scheme is a UK wide initiative that offers disabled people with independent access to locked public toilets around the country, making them free from misuse and vandalism.
The N&C Phlexicare RADAR lock set allows easy access toilet facilities across the country through the National Key Scheme (NKS). The lockset includes a 6 lever lockcase, lever handle, key and all required fixings/templates. The 6 lever lockcase includes external key operation access, with a coin release included in case of emergencies, and a lift to lock/ push to open operation for egress. Locks have been tested to BS8300 requirements.

The latch bolt can be easily reversed for inward or outward opening doors. To determine the hand that is required, stand inside the room. If the hinges are on the right of the door, you will need to configure as a right hand lockset. If the hinges are on the left, you will need to use as a left hand lockset.
Lift to lock and depress to exit lever handle operations exceeds the EN1906:2012 maximum requirement of 200,000 cycles (grade 7: high frequency of use: 200 000 cycles).
Included in Neutral Salt Spray test to 240 hours (EN1670: 2007 Grade 4 very high corrosion resistance)

The N&C RADAR lock system is part of the original and official National RADAR Key Scheme. In the early 1980’s, N&C were instrumental in working with the charity to formulate a solution to help create greater independence and accessibility for the people that needed them. The problems surrounding vandalism and the misuse of public toilets led to significant and permanent closures, affecting the independence of people with disabilities. Public toilets became more and more frequent as a result of high maintenance costs.
